Ecological featured in Building Energy Transparency: A Framework for Implementing Commercial Energy Rating & Disclosure Policy Report

New York, NY, July 2011- In late July, the Institute for Market Transformation (IMT), an energy efficiency think tank in Washington, D.C., released a major report, Building Energy Transparency: A Framework for Implementing Commercial Energy Rating & Disclosure Policy.  The report provides an analysis of policies adopted by two states and five cities – including New York City – to rate the energy performance of commercial and residential buildings and disclose that information to consumers.  The report examines the various requirements in each jurisdiction and offers best practices in six key areas: Outreach, Education and Training; Benchmarking Guidance; Compliance and Enforcement; Data Quality Assurance; Energy Consumption Data; and Disclosure.

Ecological, LLC was featured in the report as an example of a company that is servicing the market created by green legislation. Ecological, a New York based sustainability services firm, specializes in providing compliance with Mayor Bloomberg’s Greener, Greater Buildings Legislation.  The report describes Ecological’s current growth: “the small business has doubled its payroll in the past 12 months and added approximately 400 new clients.” Ecological is focused on finding creative ways to help buildings comply with the legislation, while also driving significant cost reductions through building operations.
